The one with my aspirations

Essay for a scholarship application. Yes, it know its smut-tish

Have you ever spend hours deciphering how something works? I have, more frequent than I would like to admit. I would spend so much time obsessing about an unsolvable enigma that I would ignore everything else. Whenever I solve a puzzle, I feel an excitement that no phrase can ever define. My interest in science began even before I could recall. However, I do vaguely remember asking my mother to read my bedtime stories from the science reference book instead of a story book. Before I further engross myself in my aspirations, I would first and foremost like to confess that I do not have a stand alone interest for any field, at given time. However, my passion for science lies upon Psychology, Neurology and Astronomy.

Why does these fields seem so estranged to one another? In order to answer that question, I would need to allege something about myself first. My aspiration is to be a part of the invention, innovation and exploration of unfathomed areas of human knowledge. I predict great potential for me to put my knowledge and passion into practice in the following fields. They are as if in an embryonic stage where so much can be accomplished. Psychology fascinates me in its ability to explain human behaviour, Neurology engages me in its abstruseness while Astronomy astounds me with myriad of phenomenon beyond my wildest imagination.

I would be untruthful if I admit I will settle with only one of these fields in the future. Although I have determined my future profession to be related to Astronomy, I could never lay myself off the other two fields. I designated Astronomy as my choice of profession because it is one of the most unexplored fields known to humankind, period. Did the big bang theory really created the universe as we know it today? Is there more undiscovered planet around us? Is there life beyond earth? If so, do they require the same basic requirements as we do? My body is pumped with adrenaline just by stating these questions which I know would spend a life time understanding and researching.

My long term aspiration is to work under NASA, the world’s most advanced organization in aeronautics and space research. I want to be there, as one of the proud aeronautics engineer that created the very first space shuttle to land on planet Mars. I want to witness first hand, everything that I have ever dreamed of coming into actualization. Then, break another new boundary of space exploration after another where everything is possible. I am a simple person but with an audacity for success.
